Is Ayurveda right for me?

Sep 16, 2024

I get a lot of questions about Ayurveda and what it is, what it can do and who it is good for. Ayurveda is truly a lifestyle and can really be good for anybody - young, old, male, female etc. My small children already practice some Ayurvedic habits - it's never too early to start!

Ayurveda encompasses many aspects of healing including daily habits (what time you get up and go to bed, times you eat, and more. Also things that may be new to you: tongue scraping, oil pulling, oil massage, and more). Daily habits are the foundation of Ayurveda and where I like to start - you really get the most bang for your buck here. Remember, Ayurveda is the oldest medical science in the world and is based on our original circadian rhythm. All the recommendations I give have a very intentional meaning behind them. Next is nutrition. Not only the specific foods we are eating for our individual constitution, but how we eat (raw vs cooked and further is it baked, steamed, fried), when we eat, HOW we eat (are we emotional when we eat? Watching TV or distracted?) It all matters greatly. There are other modalities we consider under the umbrella of Ayurveda such as taking good care of our senses, mindfulness practices, yoga postures and more.

Most of the clients I see are women between the ages of about 40-70. Although you don't have to wait until there is a problem before you incorporate Ayurveda - in fact I would do it before you have any issues because Ayurveda focuses highly on prevention. However, most of the clients I see have digestive issues, sleep issues, chronic pain, hormonal issues, to name a few. These clients often have issues the Western medical system cannot figure out - everything on testing looks "normal" but they still have symptoms. Ayurveda has answers.

Of course you don't have to be a woman of this age to see me - I would like to help anyone who would like to start their journey in Ayurveda. Maybe you're next! Book a free 15 minute discovery session to decide if Ayurveda is right for you.
